One man band … or… my left foot

Successful Software had a mild burning sensation…. in his left wrist. So he decided to try reducing his mouse button clicking with foot pedals:

After some “Vista” troubles, he finally got it working and feels both faster typing and less burning. But not all is improvement:

    • Working out where to put your feet when you aren’t typing can be a little awkward.
    • The pedals tend to move around the carpet, despite being metal and quite heavy. Some small spikes might have helped.
    • Although the travel on the pedals is small, they are surprisingly stiff.

He will find, in time, that his ankles get sore.

  1. The best place for a mouse is on your lap. All arm and shoulder muscles are relaxed but then typing becomes awkward unless you have a separate keyboard and use something to keep the mouse available. Try it, you’ll like it!
