20 years old. Can sign contracts. Can die in the military.Treated as an adult for ALL other crimes. Can be a policeman. Can be mayor. Booked into jail because he had a drink legal to people a few months older than he.

Drinking is dumb. It is expensive, fattening and can put you at risk. But putting 20 year olds needlessly in jail is even dumber.

The drinking age should, at minimum, be reduced to 18.  I’d prefer no rules on it other than if you are doing something stupid, you get arrested, if drink is behind it you get MORE punishment, not less.

If you visit online lists of arrests you will see endless parades of our young people introduced to jail for no good reason.  If we had any common sense we’d stop it.

Why are these people being booked for infractions? Why cant they be given a ticket and sent on their way? How much is all this cost your city?

Are you arguing for the law to be changed, or for the police to ignore laws you dont like, or a change in police priorities?

  2. Ken Says:

    The law should be changed.
As to police priorities… see the $460 next to his name. That is their priority around here.
