It’s De Smet, SD, the “Little Town on the Prairie”, named after the famous French Jesuit priest who went west with a Fitzpatrick spring pack train after mission work in Iowa (Council Bluffs). One of the few white men who had the absolute trust of most all Western Indians (we’ll skip the Paiute “Diggers”).
