The Pentagon reports that 1 in 7 of the detainees freed from Guantanamo Bay returned to terrorist activities when freed. I’ll assume the number is much higher than that.
So it seems, on the face of it, that freeing these people is a really bad idea. So why, given these stats, does Obama and the left want it closed?
They claim the detainees will be kept in “supermax” facilities, and deep in the basement of them to boot. So why?
The left’s true goal in closing Guantanamo is to put the prisoners in the U.S. so the prisoner’s ACLU lawyers can claim habeas corpus. Obama and his ilk want these men freed but they don’t want the political heat the 1 in 7 number is certain to generate. They don’t want to be blamed for the acts the released will certainly commit. So they want the courts to force it and then they can profess “there is nothing we could do”.
But there IS something they can do. You can keep them right where they are.
The left’s behavior is shameful, but very consistent with what we’ve come to expect from Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the others in the cabal of American haters call the Democratic Party.
