Without one religion anyway

Some, Commenter Carl for instance, rant on about how Christians want to control every move you make. They ignore Muslims that actually do want that level of control. And they ignore nanny statists that force you to separate your trash, drive slower than you should have to, and steal more than 1/2 your income.

I do not lose sleep at night over Christians. I know any group that large will have some kooks, but they are nowhere near power. But I know, right now, as I write, there are  hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of progressives and liberals plotting to use the force of government to make me do something they think I should do, or not do something they don’t want me to do. Or not eat what I want to eat.

The latest assault comes from Nanny Central, New York state, where a law has been introduced to ban the use of SALT in preparation of restaurant foods.

"No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of any food for consumption by customers of such restaurant, including food prepared to be consumed on the premises of such restaurant or off of such premises," the bill, A. 10129 , states in part.

No… I’m not worried about the “Christians”.  Their faith centers on free will.

I just wish our government still did.

No doubt you think you would have loved the freedom of the 1870s if you had been born in America. But you would probably have been a low wage worker with no benefits and suffering the effects of an uncompensated work injury; at least one of your six children would have died before age five; some of the foods you ate would be adulterated; if you had been born white in the South, you would be squeezed between plantation owners and starvation wage blacks in a devastated economy. But you would be free from national income tax, and you could eat all the salt you could buy, and you would be free to die by fifty. But the politicians would have been even more corrupt than today’s. Give government some credit for enabling your present safe comfy life.

    Strawman!

Giving credit for the past doesn’t mean a free pass for today!

He confuses cause and effect. The rooster crowing doesn’t make the sun rise, nor does government growing make the relatively nicer living we have today.

technology advanced. culture advanced. lots of causes for better living, other than bigger government.

He glosses over the millions government killed just 5 years before his time frame. To his view government is a one way ratchet to “goodness”, not a tool for killing hundreds of millions (or more). Unless, non-Democrats control it that is.

There goes the government cheese handout! Salt is more than a taste enhancer. It prevents protein molecules from tightening up in foods like bread and eggs which would otherwise be tough and partially undigestable. It is also natural preservative even in small amounts by killing food poisoning microbes, for example, in butter. The jury is still out on the validity of salt raising everyone’s blood pressure. Lack of salt is quite damaging to all tissue. Rush to judgement again by people who can’t do algebra or science but can tell great lies in the courtrooms.

exactly.. .government by contingency trial lawyer.
