Arnold Kling of the EconBlog has a list of 10 remarks that will keep him from every being President:

3. Many home buyers are defaulting on their loans, which results in foreclosures, and government should not interfere with that process.

I agree with all of them, and thus doom my Presidential hopes.

Of course, somewhere, somebody, is keeping a list of all the “almost dirty jokes” I’ve told. These should act as a fire stop to keep me out of the White House should I ever get close.

I agree with all but the comment about renegotiating retirement contracts. They owe the money. They employed people based on that contract. Perhaps they should be less generous with new hires, but a deal is a deal. You imply that private parties ( home owners) should abide by the contract they signed; why not the government?

I view the public sector retirement deals as just political gifts paid for with my future money. If it is too good to be true, it probably isn’t.

Well, they arent that great , numebr one, and two, they were the deal that was made. Pressure them to not make any more bad deals, but a deal is a deal. Its not a gift, its part of our compensation package.

In police and military pensions I think they are largely okay. It is civilian civil service and teachers that are out of wack and will be adjusted.
