lane iran nuclear po The Stakes in the War against Islamic Jihadism Via JihadWatch

Back in 2003, on Belmont Club, in a thought exercise on “what happens if Islamic jihadists get nukes”, I read these words:

The so-called strengths of Islamic terrorism: fanatical intent; lack of a centralized leadership; absence of a final authority and cellular structure guarantee uncontrollable escalation once the nuclear threshold is crossed.

I was a hardliner on terrorism before reading that article, but after reading it and thinking it through, I became utterly convinced that we must do anything necessary to keep Islamic jihadists from getting nuclear weapons.

I urge you to read the article. It posits three conjectures and then says that the fate of Islam actually depends on America (that’s us) winning the war on terror. Any other path leads to billions dead and the Islamic world turned to glass.

I’m not going to lie and say I care much about the “fate of Islam”.  I don’t.  But the lesson in the article is that, under any conjecture, once Islam gets the bomb, millions in places I do care about die.

So don’t let them get the bomb.
