The most common thing I’ve heard at town meetings and online forums is “they must think we are stupid…”. Rich Lowry expands on that sentiment at NRO:
Stupid enough to trust the good faith and public-spiritedness of an administration operating on Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s ram-it-through-now credo that a crisis should never go to waste.
And stupid enough not to be offended at how contemptibly stupid they think we are.
I’d add…
Stupid enough to think that while we are being rationed, those with Democratic political connections will get MRI’s, tests, specialists and surgeries in a timely manner well ahead of the rest of us schmucks.
Stupid enough to think that we should be on one plan and Congress on another.
