Some day Barry… but for now, please leave them on

A reader sent me a Maureen Dowd column via e-mail. She long ago earned a place on my lengthy and easily entered “ignore” list. But I read a paragraph, got interested and then read the rest.  The big news… she isn’t deifying Obama any longer:

Mr. Obama should have taken a red pencil to the $819 billion stimulus bill and slashed all the provisions that looked like caricatures of Democratic drunken-sailor spending.

As Senator Kit Bond, a Republican, put it, there were so many good targets that he felt “like a mosquito in a nudist colony.” He was especially worried about the provision requiring the steel and iron for infrastructure construction to be American-made, and by the time the chastened president talked to Chris Wallace on Fox Tuesday, he agreed that “we can’t send a protectionist message.”

Of course her beef is that he was too nice to Republicans, but hey, criticizing “God” in any fashion is a slippery slope.

Maureen Dowd is almost always wrong. Here she is wrong but with an element of right.  Flip, now, over to Victor Davis Hanson, an “on” ending fellow like myself, he is almost always right, and he thinks Obama is about to meltdown:

We are quite literally after two weeks teetering on an Obama implosion—and with no Dick Morris to bail him out—brought on by messianic delusions of grandeur, hubris, and a strange naivete that soaring rhetoric and a multiracial profile can add requisite cover to good old-fashioned Chicago politicking.

Victor Davis Hanson doesn’t, in my experience write what he wishes, he writes what he thinks is going to happen. It should be concerning to all that he sees an implosion coming.

And in related news, it warmed me heart to hear Leno do Obama jokes last evening.

It will be better for all of us if Obama learns he is really as inexperienced and naive as we warned he would be. And that he start taking baby steps because he really doesn’t know how the world works and if he messes up he messes up millions or billions of lives.

Go slow Barry. We  are stuck with you for 4 years.
