Rent tax overdue…
New York sued the owner of the Twin Towers for commercial rent taxes on the Twin Towers and two other buildings demolished on 9/11:
City officials asserted that "the airspace that had been surrounded by the buildings still existed" and, since Silverstein had the right to rebuild, he had to pay up.
Silverstein pointed out that the government seized control of the entire site in 2001, so he could hardly rebuild.
Fortunately, the judge agreed the city was wrong.
This shows that New York City government has no common sense or decency. Anything goes in their quest to take your money.
Unfortunately, this lack of decency and lust for your money permeates all levels and sizes of government.
Know now that in the very town you live in, some government hack sits, as you pay them, trying to figure out how to bilk you for more.
