As if to rub it in that Rush isn’t in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the museum starts a year long presentation of this  years’ lame group of inductees today.

Well… you know my thoughts on this. We don’t need their stupid Hall of Fame!

Take heart my Canadian brothers… nobody would take Abba to a desert island… while

makes many people’s lists.

I wouild take Moving Pictures, followed probably by Power Windows.

  2. D E Says:

Other than ABBA, I have never heard of any of them.

You probably haven’t heard of this group either.

  4. D E Says:

Nope. And I have to say, after all these mentions of Rush I went out to find some of their music. I gotta say, I’m not feeling the love.

  5. Ken Says:

It isn’t a matter of liking the tunes, just recognizing success / fame in the industry. Rush has had umpteen platinum albums, get radio play all the time (on Classic rock stations). Hall of Fame should be “fame”

  6. Paula Nelson Says:

Rush is good until Geddy Lee starts to sing. Then it’s nails on a chalk board. But if there’s a defined criteria for “fame” and they meet it, then they should be in. The Susan Lucci of rock and roll.

  7. Kevin Says:

Whatever. You like them or you don’t. Us RUSH fans don’t give a hoot what anyone else thinks. You don’t get it, fine. I don’t get country music. Enjoy.

Why would any serious artistat this point want their name mentioned in the same breath as this train wreck?

  8. D E Says:

Q: What do you get when you play a country music song backwards?

A: Your dog, truck, house and wife back.

  9. Paula Nelson Says:

….and there’s no rain and nary a train in sight!

  10. TR Says:

Hey #8 you forget the gun!

  11. D E Says:

And the best friend. (or was that the Dog?)

  12. TR Says:

Let’s get official here. In order of priority it’s the same as a redneck’s:
    1. Truck
    2. Dog
    3. Gun
    4. Beer
    5. Woman
A house has no value, merely being a place to store cold beer with the furniture on the front porch, and a path to the woods out back.

  13. Carl Nelson Says:

Careful, those “rednecks” are your people, the folks whose votes you depend on for your anti-liberal politics.

  14. D E Says:

rednecks are to conservatism as welfare dependents are to liberalism.

  15. TR Says:

Elvis was a redneck who sold more rock and roll and country records than Tina Turner and Dolly Parton combined. He was the old type, i.e. rural, poor, working class, white southerner, not the Howard Dean bigot type created for elitists to put down plain folks. Jokes about rednecks are a psychological mechanism that constrains the violence against bigots like Dean.

  16. Paula Nelson Says:

    Will this thread ever die???

  17. D E Says:

    nope. Well, maybe.

  18. TR Says:

That’ll be the Day”, Buddy Holly & The Crickets, 1958!

I don’t normally post to blogs but I enjoyed this post so keep up the good work. -cheers-

  20. D E Says:

I have been going back in the inductees list and havent heard of 80% of these groups/people. I thought I was well versed in music…

  21. D E Says:

PS: would you like a CMS that will properly encode the percent sign? I can do that…..

Science and technology items like the electric guitar, 12 inch LPs, 45rpm records and the transistor belong in the hall too. Maybe some are but I’ll skip a visit there as I do Graceland, Dollyworld, and others except Opryland.

  23. TR Says:

And if you’re saddened by a snub to “Rush” think about the one to Trini Lopez, who even designed a rock and roll guitar for Gibson!
