Newest fad in D.C. – an optional Constitution
When our Congress doesn’t pay attention to it?
Washington, D.C, which is a Federal District not a State, does not have representation in the Congress. Here is the pertinent part of the Constitution:
Section 2 – The House
The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.
And yet D.C. seems likely to get a voting member if Congressional Democrats get their way.
This is a bad idea. In 1978 an attempted Constitutional amendment to give D.C. representation failed – and rightfully so.
The Federal District already has too much power. Giving it a vote in the House and two in the Senate would give it even more.
Nobody has been “waiting for a vote in Congress” in D.C. Having no Representatives in Congress was part of its design. I lived there and knew I wouldn’t have a Congressman/Senator when I moved there.
So quit whining D.C. residents.
And Democrats… quit fiddling with the Constitution!
This is yet more evidence that all Obama and crew want is to not have to bother with elections.
P.S. It pains but does not surprise me that Utah’s delegation supports this through bribery of another seat for Utah. What a bunch of losers Utah sends.
And our local leaders don’t inspire. Apparently they’ll sell the Constitution down the river for a 4th seat they would have if they just wait a few years.
If Utah, home of some of the hardest working, most honest, and moral people in America, has political leadership this bad, how awful it must be elsewhere!

That’s rich – A right winger complaining of Democrats fiddling with the Constitution.
You can probably easily relax. The SC will probably deep-six such a law as clearly contravening the Constitution. Go back to worrying about the meaning of “actual enumeration” for next year.

I’m a libertarian.
And I don’t recall exactly when libertarians or “right wingers” fiddled with the Constitution. You might provide “data” for that…
As to “actual enumeration”. You can bet that Obama and crew will cheat lie and steal on the census. That is one of the reasons I was so pissed about McCain getting the nomination. He was a sure loser.
