I don’t intend to vote for Brooks Pace (Democratic candidate for Utah Senate District 29), but I do appreciate his candor when asked about our area’s economic prospects:
Pace said there are few short-term solutions to the economic decline.
"I don’t know anything that can be done for it right now," he said
I’ll vote for Urquhart instead, but in this case I liked Pace’s answer much better than Urquhart’s pollyannaish chatter about area colleges being the key.
Local colleges certainly play important long term roles, but over the next 5 years Pace’s view correctly states matters are largely out of our hands.
Kudos to Brooks for saying it like it truly is. Too bad I don’t like who he would caucus with up in SLC.
