Pfizer wants to make a buck or two, or billion. In the past they’ve extended lives with Lipitor (cholesterol) and blood pressure reduction (Norvasc).
Now they are spending billions, of their own money, packing 1,000 researchers into labs in San Diego to hunt down cancer drugs.
Virtually every large pharmaceutical company seems to have discovered cancer, and a substantial portion of the smaller biotechnology companies are focused on it as well. Together, the companies are pouring billions of dollars into developing cancer drugs.
I’d like the to continue to do this. Wouldn’t you?
Now… ask yourself what a higher corporate tax rate helps this? Ask how billions of dollars in extra spending to deal with government bureaucracy helps this. Ask how government rules about what drugs can cost helps this?
