A 50% smaller pile of doo is still pretty stinky
Have you ever been to a store that had huge signs proclaiming “50% off” or “everything 25% off”. Then you pop in and find that 50% off expensive is still “expensive”?
Apparently “moderate Republicans” must be retailers dream customers because they are falling for the same tactic from canny Democrats.
The Democrats larded up the stimulus bill with 3/4 of a trillion dollars of political payoffs. “Moderate Republicans” hope to trim “200 billion” off:
The Washington Post reports on the front page that Senate Democratic leaders "conceded yesterday that they do not have the votes to pass the stimulus bill as currently written and said that to gain bipartisan support, they will seek to cut provisions that would not provide an immediate boost to the economy." Moderate Republicans are "trying to trim the bill by as much as $200 billion."
Hey fools… that still leaves 500 billion dollars of Democratic political payoffs to unions and failed Democratically led states.
Somebody… please save us from “moderate Republicans”.
