I’ve had the Mexican version, which is called “siete mares” (seven seas), because it has seven different types of seafood.I had the Ecuadorean version, which is in a yellowish cream sauce. Didn’t care for it.

I still relish the memory of the best seafood stew I ever ate, in a Portuguese restaurant on the Isle of Jersey with the high tide English Channel crashing over the sea wall across the street.

This summer I’ve had great seafood stew at this place (once), at Zekes Chowder House in Seattle (twice), and at Legal Seafood in Boston (three times).
