Yeah… too many bonuses.
The madness has to stop. Tax it!

Don’t bonuses really get your gander up?  Well, never mind the the paltry $165 million that A.I.G. paid its traders while it tried to keep them from jumping ship in its hour of need.

That is SMALL FRY. Let’s talk bigger numbers, lets talk BILLIONS in year end bonuses, and EVERY DAMN PENNY of it was once yours.

That’s right… WalMart gave out over $2 billion in bonuses to its U.S. hourly workers in 2008. That’s right, $2 BILLION.

Charlie Rangel… are you paying attention? This HAS TO STOP!   Tax them! Shriek. Panic. Tax them!

The picture suggests that Army soldiers, viz. O-3 captains and W2 warrant officers are ripping taxpayers off to the tune of $20,000 each, a skewed figure when the details are examined compared to $1M each for four Fannie May and Freddie Mac desk jockeys. Those W2s are Apache pilots and the O3s are combat arms commanders with several tours. Their retention is crucial, not so the fat cats in DC.
Any Army soldier is limited to $200K over a career. Air Force Raptor F-22 pilots are eligible for a $125K retention bonus. It costs $300K to acquire one of those cats then pay them half a commercial pilot’s salary. A little more than half the F-22 pilots re-up without the bonus depending on the commercial pilot population. Several say they’ll leave when it stops being fun, and they work 60+ hours a week. Navy and USMC pilot retention is similar. The military programs are well planned, well executed, and closely monitored. Perhaps Mr. Geithner should do the same for his route step outfit.
BTW none of the Walmart $2B came from the taxpayers without their direct consent in a buying decision. Read your link.

Nah… the picture was in jest. They earn ALL their money and then some.

In terms of the money…. I went and bought stuff at WalMart. That 2 billion was my money, in part, and I’m darn fine that WalMart gave it to employees.

The point of the post was that bonuses are just fine, and what elese ar they going to tax? Army bonuses? Walmart bonuses?

And also that the “hated” corporation, WalMart, treats its people darn fine.
