Because of medicines I’m on I have to go to the blood drawing lab at the hospital quite often.  At the door is this sign:

Which I honor.

But it irks me. Because, unlike an airport, they aren’t checking. I don’t mind disarming at an airport because I know everybody else is too.  At the hospital I unilaterally disarm myself, then enter, sign in and sit in the waiting room, which is right by the waiting room for the psychiatric department’s waiting room.  Hundreds of people go by, patients, visitors. Cash is exchanged for co-payments in 15, 30 and 50 dollar increments.  Nothing will happen, probably. But I sure will be pissed at Intermountain Healthcare and their stupid liberal administrators if something does.

A more honest sign would be:

If they arent checking, why disarm? Doesn’t sound enforceable by law, anyway. I’m always packing when I go to the doctor. Lots of unstable people at hospitals.

I also pack when I got to Cal State for classes. If you do it right, no one will know. I think we learned from VT and NIU that having no means of defense is a fool’s game.

Agree. It’s just that in Utah, that means you can get your permit yanked.
