This came up at lunch yesterday… so I’m documenting where I “read” that science thinks cousin marriage is fine:
But dispassioned analysis suggests that cousin marriage is no more troubling than childbearing by middle-aged women.
So there you have it… an increased risk of birth defects, but about the same as older woman having babies.
What I believe the study misses is the generational aspect of it. For instance, in royals, where cousins marry cousins and their children marry cousins – all these genetic risks start to add up.

Weird looking cretins are less worrisome than the effect marrying cousins has on altruism. Populations experience stronger kin selection thus remaining tribal with modern capability for vengeance. 46% of Iraqis are married to cousins!

I think, succinctly put, we are at a point of diminishing returns with Mack. Hope I’m wrong, but his approach with a number of things is very disappointing.
