Our Governor, John Huntsman, follows in a long tradition of Utah politics. Be Mormon. Have a famous name. Be stupid.
I’m all in favor of being Mormon – you should try it, you will like it.
I wish I had a famous name, alas mine is tied to a dead Admiral and a wrestling move.
I’m not stupid.
Hunstman is, however. He foolishly thinks he can get Democrats to like him by advocating gay marriage (he calls it “civil unions” but it is really forcing others to honor contracts between gays). He also wastes tax payer money on “green” energy projects and says he believes in “climate change”.
Republicans face irrelevancy if they follow Huntsman, McCain, Hatch, Graham, Snowe, et. al. in not advocating core principals that most Americans adhere to.
It is really pretty simple. Spend less. Tax less. Defend us. Protect our borders and culture. Don’t let gays force their views on the rest of us. Don’t kill babies.
Do it, you ride back to power on a wave of doing the right thing.
Parse it out with focus groups and you lose our enthusiasm, money, and relevancy.
I couldn’t care a whit about Republicans. If they don’t follow this simple plan, I and tens of millions of others will find a Party that will.
