You said it couldn’t happen

GM and Chrysler want considerably more $ than they told us when getting us pregnant with their bailout last year.

General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC, which have requested as much as $21.6 billion in additional government aid, may need “considerably” more than that, said Steven Rattner, the Treasury’s chief auto adviser.

Is this a surprise?  Not to me. Government programs always cost less, get enacted and then cost way more than we were told.

But then what price would you charge to be run by Chris Dodd and Barney Frank? A pretty penny indeed.

Let them fail. Somebody will pick up the worthy pieces.

Shouldn’t we all be getting a new car? What are they doing with the money? Are they keeping it in lieu of selling cars? I dont understand why they need it.

GM won’t see the money. It goes to UAW “workers” for making cars nobody wants to buy right now. The bailout is of the Democratic constiuency unions, not of GM, its shareholders, or especially the taxpayers.

The Democrats do not want company’s to be free of the unions because they are there biggest supporters.
I have been approached many times by unions, because I am still a licensed electrician even through I am currently not working in that trade, they do not understand why I do not like Unions. I try to explain that the only thing they have to offer is another monthly bill and I am not going to sit home on strike because they do not like it when the “boss/customer” start making demands and setting deadlines. They try to lure me with benefits but are shocked to find that I get those same “benefits” with out their help.
After 25 years of being in and around the construction industry the only thing union workers due is slow down a project and make the cost overruns go through the roof.
If GM where to bankrupt and get ride of the unions, they could rebuild and be more competitive with Toyota, Honda and others.
