A “blue dog” Democrat is asked at a town hall about illegal alien coverage under the House Bill 3200 plan. He responds:
"Page 143, line 3,” he said. “No federal payment for undocumented aliens; nothing in this subtitle shall allow federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States. Does that answer your question?"
No actually it doesn’t. If the economy picks up, they will come over again. And they will show up at hospitals, clinics and emergency rooms expecting and getting treatment.
All that section of the bill does is codify what the Federal government already does – stick states with the bills for the illegal aliens it will not prevent from entering our country.
A REAL reform of health care and illegal aliens starts with stopping them at the border and with preventing their employment in this country.
Put bluntly, I don’t trust the Democrats with ANY of this. They have shown themselves untrustworthy with our money, using it to pay off constituencies not to better our nation.
As to Blue Dog Democrats…. I’ve got one “representing me”. Frankly, he is too much work. We have to watch him all the time to make sure he doesn’t go off the deep end. I’d rather have a REAL fiscal conservative, not one that votes with his party 90% of the time.
Checking out Boyd, I learn this scary statistic… he votes with his party 96% of the time and abstains the other 4%….
The Democrats, with the aid of a friendly media, pull the wool over millions of voters.

Obama and the Dems want to “de-link” health care and immigration reform but it isn’t that easy. Nelson is correct in his interpretation of “line 3″ : it simply foists the burden of treating illegal aliens back on to the state and local governments. What ER will turn away a child with a pregnant woman, a laborer suffering a heart attack or a child who’s been hit by a car? But who will pay for these treatments?
It will not be neccessary to round up and deport all 10 million-plus illegal immigrants in this country. A number of things could be done simultaneously to constrict the flow: first, identify and deport those with criminal records; next, those who have been on welfare the longest; finally, target those working for large agricultural and manufacturing concerns. Enforce the requirement for a green card or other work permit – and fine or imprison the worst offending employers. At the same time, commit a couple of hundred extra billion to tightening border control. Finally, let the federal government – so eager to intefere with the states on every other matter – assume it’s proper authority to enforce immigration laws on those states who wish to flaunt them, chiefly California. Deny all federal funding to states which provide free health care, welfare and education to illegal immigrants. Let CA (where I live, and for whose state government I work) add another 25 billion to it’s budget deficit in consequence of its encouragement of illegal immigration. Let the people of CA decide whether they want sharply higher taxes in order to provide free services to people who came here illegally – or whether they simply prefer a new set of leaders.
If these measures were explained to the American people not as punitive but simply as necessary they would receive strong support. Then – after two or three million of the least productive illegals were deported, after our borders were again secure and after it was clear to aspiring illegal immigrants in Mexico and to their champions here that the gravy train was closed for good – then, and ony then, we could move to offer some form of legal assimilation to those illegals who had been here the longest and who had demonstrated an ability to support themselves and to contribute to our country.
But any amnesty offered before these tough yet essential measures will simply be a green light for another 10 or 20 or 30 million people to come on over the border. We must get tough first and be merciful afterward. Doing it the other way around, as we always have, is a prescription for the death of the republic.

I agree with you Fred. The basic problem on immigration is that the Democrats need illegals or they won’t have enough voters in 5-10 years.
Combine with Republican Chamber of Commerce desire for cheap labor (at any social cost) and you have a tough to beat scenario.
But… townhall / active rage from the people will be heard.
Unfortunately, I think the Democrats, like a cornered beast about to die, won’t go down demographically without a fight.
Remember… they are in it for them, so arguments about the country won’t be heard.

The choice is ultimately yours about health care solutions or the severe illegal immigration problem, by calling Washington politicians at 202-224-3121. ICE must be ruthlessly in going after the parasitic businesses who pay nothing for their illegal workers in health care benefits. THAT’S BEEN LEFT TO TAXPAYERS FOR DECADES. The American people must decide their health care options? Because of the massive divide of angry citizens and legal residents, it is essential that free choice must be on the table of any new legislation. Taxpayers must realize that special interest groups have a monopoly over radio and television networks, because they have extraordinary amounts of money to spend on engineering the truth.
We should have a passionate commitment to our homeless veterans, citizens, such as our own poverty-stricken people. Those who have health care now care nothing for those without, but the shock will come with escalating costs when premiums to rise and can no longer afford it for their own family. ALSO REMEMBER THAT MANY POLITICIANS HAVE FINANCIAL INTERESTS IN THE STATUS QUO AS THEY ARE STOCKHOLDERS IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY. They have acclimatized a large portion of Americans that insurance companies are the best deal, but this is not true? Most European countries perform very well with the private and the public option? Erosion began in the European health care system, when an indoctrinated Europe allowed poor nations access to their hospitals and doctors without every paying into the government system.
This was the main cause of medical care sinking below par, not indifferent to illegal cheap labor entering our nation. Until the 1980’s there was–NO–extreme rationing or problems in the British national health care, until England became overwhelmed by Northern Europeans. I know because I was there in Britain and in Australia. Nobody can be turned away from Doctors or hospitals, which is the–ABSOLUTELY SAME–position as America. THINK! How can America sustain health care costs, when US taxpayers are forced by federal law to support poor sick and maimed 20 million plus illegal aliens? No nation can sustain its living standards as in the near past, after the mass immigration of illegal immigrants and their extended families.
Our only option is to terminate illegal cheap labor with every enforcement opportunity we can muster. Without restrictions millions more will keep coming, specifically of Amnesty raising its ugly head again. We must keep up the pressure on Washington, with mandated E-Verify, the Save Act, state police authorization of 287 G, no match social security, an originally planned two-tier fence and ICE raids.
