The chart shows budge deficits for the last year of Clinton, 8 years of Bush, and the estimated next 10 years during and after Obama.
Note that Purple is what was estimated by the CBO in September. Black is what was estimated in January, and Red what is projected last month.
Obama and the Democratic control of Congress made the deficit much worse.
And the bad news is that the “shrinking” shown reflects rosy views of economic growth and doesn’t factor in other obligations like Social Security and any other crisis that might happen (Katrina, earthquake, terrorist attack).
