Live in a  forced union state and watch your kids move away in search of jobs.

Unions act like they hate young people. They keep wages and benefits high for those who get into the system but lock out those that don’t.  So if you are a young person and seek opportunity, either have a relative that is a union steward, or move.

Other reasons kids move away…. middle of nowhere.

Give Carpe Diem a big fat F in the use of statistics to establish cause and effect from some correlation. With dozens of variables to control for, and no direct data on why the movers actually moved, no valid conclusion can be drawn about the effect of any single variable such as the existence of right-to-work laws. As Disraeli noted: lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Might as well correlate pregnancy in India with rainfall in Kansas.

You don’t like the conclusion, blame the stats.

I’m pretty sure the actual reason is business unfriendliness of the states in question (LA excepted). Union support is one of many ways states like Michigan kill businesses in there state. It is a leading indicator that “hey, this is a good place to be from”.

At the time of the 2000 census the population of California was 33,871,648

According to the US Census Bureau estimated as of June 2007 it is 37,700,000
