Two insurance policies the Democrats would like to buy with your $

In my previous installment, I explained why seniors are upset by the health care reform ideas (they want the money but not the competition for services).

Today I’ll explain what the Democrats are up to, and why they think it worth the risk of irritating an important voting block like seniors.

First you have to understand that the Democrats are demographically challenged. FDR Democrats are dying. Liberals don’t have many babies. Democrats are strong in states that are shrinking. What are the Democratic main groups?  Unions – shrinking. Minorities – growing. Dependent on government – static.

So they need more minorities and more dependent classes (those getting other people’s money from government).

Supporting illegal immigration is the best bet for new minorities. Since they are unskilled they also, usefully for Democrats, add to the dependent class.

But Single Payer health care is their holy grail because it creates a huge new dependent class.  Millions forced into government run health care, and a whole industry ripe for public sector unionization tempts them.

So the next time you hear a Democrat saying “it’s for the uninsured”, scoff, because it is really Democrat insurance they are buying with your money.
