Brian and I wrote a guest post for The Firearm Blog about our visit to Atlanta Arms & Ammo.

Brian & Ken see how ammo is made!

As a side note… I used their .40 match ammo in a class with Rob Leatham yesterday and it shot perfectly!  It made major but had less kick than traditional factory ammo and was reliable and accurate.

Run it by me again what 1911 your CCW and what kind of rig? I’m looking at Kimber Ultra CDP. Its supposed to be one of the few 3″ 1911 that’s any good. It gets good reviews but I’m not sure how much I trust gun mags. They like everything or esle they wouldn’t get anything to review.
Also like Para Warthog, Para compact LDA, Sig P220 DAK, and a couple 4″ Kimbers. They are in the 28oz range.
The LDA thing somewhat defeats the purpose of the 1911, but I’m still not completely sold on Condition One carry off-duty. I am sold on .45 but i want accuracy.

Mine is a S&W 1911PD – commander sized – bigger than the Ultra CDP. I liked it because it was bigger but light due to scandium frame.

I saw that one too. It look sgood because you get the 4″ barrel but light weight. Do you like it? What are you carrying it in?

  4. Ken Says:

I like it. I carry it in a CrossBreed super tuck. I also have a High Noon IWB holster that I use for on the belt carry under a jacket. And a COM Kydex holster for IDPA competition with it.

I may have to add a throwing axe to my belt!

CrossBreed looks interesting. Do you wear it with a tucked in shirt? Is it comfortable? All the holsters I use now are strong-side OWB, so you can’t tuck in the shirt. I watched the video but I can’t see how you clip it to your waistband and still tuck in your shirt.

I wear it with a tucked in shirt regularly. I also untuck the shirt. It is bigger than most holsters but that spreads the weight and doesn’t sag like some, and it is comfortable. One of the reasons I like it is that unlike my other tuckable holsters it doesn’t flop around when you drop your drawers to use the bathroom. Another guy at my office has it for his XDM and wears it comfortably, although he is usually untucked.
