Google’s nifty “Google Labs” makes public the projects Google hopes will eventually help their mission of “organizing the worlds information”.  The Labs incubated Gmail for instance.

Today I tried a new  project “In Quotes”.  It purports to find exact quotations about keywords/search terms (like “social security) from candidates. By default it offers up Obama and McCain.

Google is notoriously liberal. I find that odd because Google couldn’t exists in the end goal of most liberal minds. So I wondered… “can I trust” them.  And I decided that if I even have to ask that question, then Google is failing in their mission.

But I tried it anyway….

I didn’t like it.  They pre-load the search terms with keywords I presume they think will reflect better on Obama. And they only show one quotation at a time forcing me to hit a “spin” button.

But ultimately they rely largely on main stream media content, which means the samples will be notoriously biased.

Give this one a skip.
