Good idea and good use of funding

Cornell researchers have developed a scrubber for the blood stream that will capture and kill 30% of the cancer cells floating by it:

Used in combination with traditional cancer therapies, King said, the device could remove a significant proportion of metastatic cells, "and give the body a fighting chance to remove the rest of them."

Mestastising cancers use the blood stream like a highway – scrubbing those cells from the blood stream stops any cancer:

"And if you could reduce or prevent metastasis, pretty much any cancer would be treatable," he said.

His research is funded by the state of New York and the National Cancer Institute.

This is EXACTLY the kind of good use for my money that I wish government would do more of.  Less inflatable alligators… more smart people solving problems that affect all of us.
