The Jerusalem Post has a feature about the “MobileEye”, a 3rd eye for driving:

The images generated from a front-facing camera are analyzed by the system’s computer chip, which has been "taught" to recognize potential hazards such as cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles and pedestrians, and uses audio warnings to aid the driver in recognizing and maintaining safe distances from these threats.

Good idea. I depend (perhaps too much) on the backup warning system in my Expedition.  Something that can alert me to odd things in front would be useful if they can balance irritating with useful. Something most back seat drivers can’t manage.
