Who knows what political atrocities await in the war to take back our country?

I’m glad Scott Brown won. Although Obama has already done more than enough damage for one President, lacking a Senate super-majority, and having Democrats run chicken in the Congress can only be a good thing.  The first rule of being in a hole is stop digging and the election of Scott Brown definitely puts the shovel down.

I paraphrased Winston Churchill for the subject of this post. He referred to the Allied victory at El-Alamein as the “end of the beginning”. He knew they faced a tough slog ahead, with harder fighting with an increasingly cornered enemy that fought by a brutal, uncivilized set of rules.

Sound familiar?

The Democrats are losing, but they aren’t out yet. Not by a long shot. We will have our political Tarawa’s, where we learn from our mistakes. And we will have our Saipans, where we even after countless atrocities our opponents still could surprise us with their brutality and casual disdain for what we value.  And we will have our political Iwo Jimas where, afterwards, we wonder if such effort and cost were worth it.

The Democrats will lie. They already are about why they lost in Massachusetts. The Democrats will divide and buy – like Mary Landrieu, Ben Nelson and Cadillac plan taxes only for non-Obama supporters.

We can learn from California that as they face electoral defeat (as in numerous California propositions) that they will not hesitate to thwart the will of the people via judicial fiat.

The Democrats and the constituencies that own them will not go down without a bitter fight. At times we will wonder if it is worth the struggle. And at times they will ensure that even if we win we face intractable problems, political land mines set for us to step on.

I’ll continue fighting. I have no choice. As a just captured Confederate soldier responded when asked why he was fighting for slavery when he owned none… “I’m fighting yaw’ll because you are down here’”.   Well, same here, I’d prefer to be left alone but the Democrats are aiming at me, my family, and their future.

That means a fight. The only question is what is left at the end.   I have no doubt the Democrats will gladly sacrifice many Americans and many American ideals in their quest to keep power.

So, yes, this is a positive end of a beginning… but the real fight awaits and it is going to be ugly.
