Dear Santa,

I would like to have an HP DesignJet 3D printer for Christmas this year. It would be really handy to prototype all the good ideas my son and I have. Santa, I know it is $17,000, but surely there are politicians not deserving presents this year that you can skip and spend on me instead…

    Just claim that it’s a “right” and you could probably get Congress to mandate HP provide it to all citizens at a “fair” price.

    I doubt the capability of that machine to meet the tolerances and strength of the kind of things you and Brian would like to make. It won’t be dropping any cold rolled steel, +/- .001″ widgets into a bin!

    True. but it would be cool. Plus I think you would need expensive software to do the design stuff.
