Day 14 photos
All photos.

Today was a day of rest. Sort of. The ladies rested at the RV park. The men toured the USS Wisconsin and affiliated museum in Norfolk, VA.

The Wisconsin is still in the fleet. We were permitted to tour the top decks, but no below deck.  The size can’t really be seen in this image. Suffice to say everything on it is “big!”.

Here I use the self-timer on the 50D for a picture of Brian and me below the 16” guns:

We toured the top deck, which was cool, but longed to see below. Alas, it wasn’t to be.

We then headed off for a “2 hour tour” on the Victory Rover:

It took us around the harbor to see all the Navy ships. Pretty nifty. Brian knew a lot of them and had a fleet identification cheat sheet put out by the Marines.  In 2 hours he corrected half a dozen errors the fellow on the PA made.

Here is a broad view of the shipyard:

Lots of ships. Pretty cool views. Very nice trip.

Then… off to Hooters for wings. It was the nearest place to the boat and I was very low on sugar…  I hadn’t been to one in a decade or so, and it turns out the food was terrific and the service very good. Scantily clad and pretty, but efficient and prompt as well.  Brian got snow crabs – a pound for 10 bucks. I got wings.  We ate, then headed home.

Ken: thanks for the entries. Was beginning to worry about you. The pictures you did take were great. I enjoy them and usually just lock on to all photos and see the ones you didn’t put on blog.
Be safe, TWC is predicting nasty weather for east coast. what are you going to do with RV while in DC and NYC.
Driving would be a real challenge. Park it in Pop’s parking slot.

  2. Kevin Says:

Doesn’t the 50D have a setting that won’t allow you to take photos if there is no card inserted? The 10D has that.

  3. Ken Says:

no idea. Probably. It wouldn’t have helped. I was pretty far from the car when i took the first picture.

  4. Kevin Says:

If the menu is similiar then it is in the Custom Settings or Custom Functions option

The options were Joes Crab Shack, which I don’t like. And hooters. Or fainting. the waitresses were pretty, that’s for sure. (-:
