My own Christmas miracle was that I wasn’t sick this Christmas, making this Christmas markedly different from the past 40 or so Christmases. But on to a truly amazing story and actual Christmas Miracle…
A woman dies of cardiac arrest during labor. An emergency C-section, with no anesthesia, brings out a dead baby as well. At this point:
"Half of my family was laying there in front of me, there’s no other way to say it, but dead," said Mike.
But then the miracles happened, his wife revived after being dead for minutes, and:
After the delivery, doctors rushed Tracey to the operating room to complete the surgery. In the meantime, Coltyn’s tiny, lifeless, body was handed to his father Mike. Doctors still worked to get the baby breathing. "They actually got him started right in my hands. That is an amazing feeling," said Mike.
Pretty scary but a great result. I’m glad for their family.
Alas the comment sections descend into rants about if God is real or not, proving that even the stupid can figure out how to get on the internet these days.

I don’t know about the God part. I have my doubts. A teacher at the school had a similar circumstance, unfortunately with the opposite result. Who knows? The fact that death during childbirth is newsworthy these days says something about how far we have come along.
Its pretty amazing what medical technology can do these days. One thing I can’t figure out is why they haven’t been able to reduce the size of Xray technology like almost everything else. I was watching “Emergency” from 1974 yesterday, and the Xray machines looked exactly the same as the one at Kaiser right now! Still using big photographic plates.

the xray machines are smaller, quieter and more articulated. But…still the same old mechanism. Fortunately we now also have CAT, MRI and CT scans.
As to the God discussion, I wasn’t stating an opinion on the God component, just on how inappropriate the discussion was.

We all know that miracles come from Xerox!

We might get a clue if God is real when we figure out what reality is. There are currently eight hypotheses about it from quantum theory.

I gathered that. Its more a discussion of what a lucky break this guy got, and how doctors these days are pretty amazing most of the time. At least, that’s my take.

I’m of two minds about doctors. My experience over the last two years showed me the best (my back/neck surgeries) and the worst (bouncing around financially motivated specialists and unneeded treatments because my insurance was good and it might help)
