Here we find Alan Colmes, supposedly a moderate liberal, slamming on Paul Ryan because his family collected Social Security benefits after his father died.

The liberals think that thus Ryan shouldn’t be active in politics, nor propose plans to rescue our country from the financial doom they’ve hoisted upon us.  Because his Dad died and his family got some help.

We can hope that Alan Colmes has a nasty fall today. And the vile commenters on his blog as well.

Posts and articles like this piss me off. They make me wish the rest of the Tea Party, Republicans and right minded people would view folks like Alan Colmes as an ENEMY and treat them accordingly.  They haven’t earned other treatment.

How else could we treat them?  When they sink this low, make it this personal, well… I just don’t know how else we should treat them other than with disdain and social stigma.

Not that they will care. All they care about is taking money, time, and freedom from the rest of us.

Barry… this time you’ve gone to far. You take my money. You make my gas expensive. You ruin my country’s credit.  You stick my kid’s kids with your crazy bills. You hose my health care. But now.. Barry… Now… Arg… YOU HAVE GONE TOO FAR.

You’ve gone after me Crunch

Cap’n Crunch was once the No. 1 breakfast cereal, but pressure from the White House and health activists is having an effect on how PepsiCo and other food companies peddle their products to kids. Sales of the cereal were down 6.8 percent in 2010.

Sure it’s bad for me. But that my business, not yours, Barry, or that meddling wife of your’s.

STAY AWAY FROM ME CRUNCH… ARGGH….

NewImage30 Ultimate Drudge Headline

And, as usual, Matt Drudge has it right.  The terrorists have won, a battle at least. They’ve made traveling in the West really uncomfortable, slow, and are damaging our economy because of it.

But… they couldn’t have done it without our government’s help.

The sham that is security doesn’t help, doesn’t work, and only adds cost and aggravation to US air travel.  Sure, I’m being groped and pictured nude, but Achmed the baggage handler is slipping whatever he wants onto planes.

The problem is that somebody EXTREMELY UNLIKELY to be a terrorist, me, is being cavity searched while somebody QUITE LIKELY to be a terrorist is handed a security pass and told to wander around the airport.

About all our government does well, outside of our fine military, is waste our money and our time.

Related… Abolish the TSA.

image thumb53 Hall of Lack of Fame
Rush snubbed again.

Today’s nominees for the Rock Hall of Fame:

Beastie Boys, Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Donovan, Tom Waits, LL Cool J, Dr. John, the J. Geils Band, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, and Chuck Willis.

While the article is about KISS being snubbed again, I noted that … Rush STILL isn’t there!  Unacceptable.

And who is Joe Tex, or Laura Nyro?   But more importantly, who are the fools running the Hall of Lack of Fame, and why don’t they want me to visit?

image thumb17 Typical waste of money
Utah Waste of Money

I pay a lot for health insurance for my employees. Labor healthcare costs are my 2nd largest expense, and they are going up 16% this year.  I’d heard about the”Utah Health Exchange” with an implication it could save me money. So I went to check it out.

Here is the Employers info page on the Exchange website.  I’ll excerpt part of it:

Employer Application Details:   During the registration process, the following information will be requested: information about your company, your current health insurance plan information, information about your producer, your new hire waiting period, copies of your latest Quarterly Wage and Tax Form, your latest health insurance carrier bill and a standard census file.

So, let me get this right. There is NO information on how the Exchange benefits my company on this page (or the site).  BUT please give us your Quarterly Wage and Tax form and our health insurance bill and census.

Why would I do this?

At the end it suggests strongly that I “work with a producer”.  Well I do. And what does this  Exchange do that they don’t already do?  My producer (agent) already offers me up plans from all these companies. And MSA, HSA, FSA and any number of other acronyms.

WHY did the state spend millions setting up this silly website and Exchange? Why do they hide any benefits it might provide?

I suspect because there are none.

image thumb66 Quit funding cartels and Taliban
Thanks YOU America for keeping our product prices high

John Stossel correctly believes that the war on drugs is worse than drugs:

I understand that people on drugs can do terrible harm — wreck lives and hurt people. But that’s true for alcohol, too. But alcohol prohibition didn’t work. It created Al Capone and organized crime. Now drug prohibition funds nasty Mexican gangs and the Taliban. Is it worth it? I don’t think so.

I’ve never used them. I’m high on life!  But if you want to, I don’t care.

This war is lost. Know how you can tell? Watch Leno, Conan, or Stewart and listen when they mention pot or cocaine. The audience hoops and hollers. Drug use is acceptable, even cool, amongst a generation of young adults that were born 20 years AFTER the “war on drugs” started.

The war is lost – and it was wrong to fight it in the first place.

I’ll never use drugs. I hope my kids never do either. But that is my and their choice, not some stupid government weenie who wants to “protect” us and is willing to “destroy our village” of rights to save it.

Just saw this on the wall at our local college:

Gosh… you conservatives probably can’t handle a crappy liberal remake of Madame Butterfly, so better stay home.

Us libertarians, even though we are impossible to offend, probably should stay home too.

image thumb19 Message from our future
Closed Mon and Fri

LA is considering a 3 day workweek, except for “revenue generating positions”.

Uhmm… guys… can I just pay taxes on the THREE days you actually provide city services?

The real answer, of course, is that this is a sure sign that the city of LA is doing too much of little value.

image thumb20 Cool Job of the Week: VP of Moronic Ideas for Microsoft

Microsoft’s VP of “Trusted Computing” wants a broad Internet tax to pay for Internet related security costs.

Well Mr. VP…. this is so stupid as to defy words. But I’ll try…

Who gets the money? Do I get it for that firewall I just put in?  Or is  this just to fund a super cyber security bureaucracy that won’t help anything but will want budget increases?  Is Microsoft taxed extra for having released IE 6?

Oh hell, I give up. It is a dumb idea, proposed at the worst possible time.

image thumb17 Really poorly run
A very poorly run town

Harrisburg, PA looks likely to go bankrupt soon. Why?   It has $68 million in debt on JUST ONE PROJECT but only raises 1/4th that for its entire city budget.

Read that paragraph above again.

That’s right. One project, a waste incinerator, costs more than 4 times their property tax revenue, and is $4 million than the entire regular operating budget.

Sounds like somebody didn’t plan right.

Cocheres told council members that by skipping payments that are made on behalf of the authority, the city risks being sued and ordered to raise taxes or fees by Assured Guaranty Municipal Corp., formerly FSA Insurance, which has insured the bonds, or by the deal’s trustee, TD Bank.

We were in Harrisburg during our RV trip this summer. We sought a German place and found it only open at dinner (bummer!).  So we ate ate at a decent place (Scotts Grille) downtown amidst one of the hardest thunder storms I’ve been in (and I’ve been in a few!).

The downtown was largely dead, with what looked like mostly government bureaucrats and state cops sharing the place with us.

Sounds like the heavy hand of a corrupt and stupid government kept Harrisburg down, and it looks like it will keep it down for a while.

That’s too bad as the location and setting seemed really nice… well, I wasn’t there in the winter. So it seemed nice in the summer!

image thumb6 When stupid smart people debate

You know the type…Ivy League educated, Harvard, Princeton, or the technical elite, Cal Tech, MIT, RPI.   Smart as all get out, but stupider than than a high school drop out.  Their minds trained to manage the abstract, they abstract away misery, pain and anguish to rationalize their crazy ideas.

If you don’t know the type… visit this Economist debate and become introduced:

This house believes that Barack Obama is failing.

All three of the educated morons involved in the debate, including the moron saying Obama has failed, MISS THE ENTIRE POINT. They focus on Bush did this, or Obama did that, when they forget what Obama’s JOB is.

President of the United States.

So the real question to answer is “Is the United States, which Obama is temporarily  in charge of, failing”.

And that answer is without a doubt “hell yes”.

And the next question is “Is he stopping us from failing?” And the obvious answer is “hell no”.  He is putting gas on the fire.

I’d take a random high school drop out over any of these doofuses to run the country.

Jan 29

Except when it isn’t.

I’d be mildly interested in a different college football post season. But the government has no business meddling.

It is no surprise that one of Utah’s lost their soul in DC Senators is in on this.

image thumb43 Where is the Air Marshal?
Missing

We were promised a “surge” in air marshal coverage after the “fruit of the boom” idiot. Now comes reports that 4 passengers on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit were unruly… and no air marshal:

A Delta Airlines spokeswoman says the crew of a Northwest Airlines flight has requested that authorities meet the plane as it landed in Detroit because four passengers did not follow their instructions.

Were these Nigerian muslims? Or were they on strike over wanting to keep their blankets the last hour of the flight?   Big difference and I wish Delta would tell us. I’d also like to know why we don’t have air marshals on all flights from Amsterdam, at least until we have confidence in their security system again.
