The Kimber Desert Warrior carried fine for me yesterday.  A tad uncomfy in the truck, but so was the LCP. I just shifted it a bit and no problemo.

But the fellow I bought the customized STI from gave me an interesting path… and it is intriguing and problematic at the same time.

He tunes and customizes pistols. I described my LCP problem and he said “yep, my Dad had the same issue”. Apparently the drying of the lubrication and buildup of dust and lint causes the slide to slow down, thus giving the round time to dip back down into the feed tray, and then a nose down jam (what I’d been getting).

He worked his Dad’s LCP over, polishing the feed ramp and other moving parts and his Dad has had no failures, period, since.

So that is intriguing in that I do like the LCP for size, accuracy and the Crimson Trace I put on it.

But it is problematic in that I enjoy shopping for a new gun and since I’m moving over to a 1911 style competition gun I’m going to be very familiar with 1911 controls and trigger.

So… a compromise is in order. I’ll have him tune the LCP and I’ll carry it when I need to tuck my shirt in or otherwise have to wear a tighter fitting outfit.

AND I’ll get a Commander sized 1911 – like this Smith & Wesson 1911PD with laser grip for carry in my normal casual attire.  It is small, thin, 28oz empty and very accurate.  I could compete in IDPA with it, which is something I can’t do with the LCP. Competition makes me feel more comfortable I’ll do okay under pressure with it.

Win – win!

Now just let me crank up my money printing press. Hopefully it won’t jam!

With all that hardware some might want to use a liquor store’s money! We know who’s doing both, printing and stealing it.
