As of 10 minutes ago Barack Hussein Obama is the President.
My view of him is dim, to say the least. I believe that he becomes whatever he needs to be get the next rung on his political ladder. He was a black separatist to fit in at church, a socialist to fit in at home, a smoker to be cool at school, a black activist to get ahead in Chicago politics, and has said nothing other than Change and I’m not Bush to fit in as a Presidential candidate.
His adaptability could be a good thing. The next rung on his ladder is the view of history. He plays to a 200+ year audience now.
Were I advising him, I’d talk to him not of Lincoln, who came to the office with hard views. I’d talk of Nixon, not of Watergate, but of the ardent communist hater who went to China. I’d talk to him of FDR, but how he will be remembered for the programs that bankrupted us. I’d talk about how socialism may make him popular, but will kill his legacy.
And I would advise him to go to the socialist’s China. To reform entitlements. To cut taxes. To reduce regulations. All in the name of jobs and the little guy.
Whether he will do this, I don’t know. If he doesn’t then he will be remembered as the first black President and as a one term failure.
He can define his own place in history or ultimately be compared to other failures. He can be Jimmy Carter. Or he can be Barack H. Obama – a socialist who figured out socialism doesn’t work and righted our ship.
