Even when he does right he does it wrong
President Bush commuted the sentences of hosed US Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean today:
Bush’s decision to commute the sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who tried to cover up the shooting, was welcomed by both Republican and Democratic members of Congress. They had long argued that the agents were merely doing their jobs, defending the American border against criminals. They also maintained that the more than 10-year prison sentences the pair was given were too harsh.
With this act he does a good thing but waiting this long, keeping these men in prison for years, was cowardly and still makes him a huge weenie in my book.
So “good idea” Bush, but you are way late to the party.

If the sentence should have been commuted, he should have done it two years ago. As usual, even the things he does right he screws up.

I listened to one of the congressmen trying to get congress to “make” the president pardon those two guys. He listed a ton of pardons he has already issued and the crimes they covered. Pretty scarey, “child molesters, murder, drug trafficing with intent to sell, and on and on”. He harrangued for a couple of hours so I guess it worked but the Pres should be ashamed.
Lesson Learned, “don’t join the Border Patrol if you want to be able to do your job effectively without injustice being served”.
