Obama’s mysteriously changing transition web site has been found. It shows plenty of intent to mess with gun laws:
Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.
The Tiahrt Amendment does not restrict local law enforcement. It restricts firearms ownership data TO law enforcement and prosecutors. The left mainly wants to get rid of it as a sop to lawyers who want the data for civil class action lawsuits. Cities also want the data for various nefarious purposes (for instance seeing who in Chicago owns a gun but hasn’t registered it). The law should be kept as is.
I may be “extreme” but I think any laws relating to gun ownership and sale are unconstitutional. I do not favor background checks. I do not favor government tracking of who owns guns. I do not favor limits on the capability of firearms citizens can own.
The existence of ownership data is a temptation. Money grubbing lawyers, money/freedom grabbing government, or by external groups who would misuse the information.
Ultimately, a well armed citizenry is the backstop our freedom rests on. You may view that as alarmist, but match up gun ownership with freedom around the world and you will get the picture.

While Im all for ppl keeping their guns as I have a few myself I enjoy..I enjoy target practice/home protection etc and such..I wouldnt or dont mind the background ck on buyers…as I would hate to see some criminals get one and do some things that we all would hate to hear about (like they would get them legally anyway)..I also dont like the tracking either as every few yrs I like to sell one or two of mine and replace them with newer model ones..and I also like buying a gun when I want to buy one not when some guy or group pf ppl who dont know me or anything about me telling me when and what kind I can buy..my wallet tells me that already!

Background checks could be done randomly with severe penalties for those disqualified from purchasing guns. Background checks have not kept guns from criminals. They simply slow down the purchasing process. Mark my words… the background check is a point of risk – look at CA where you can only have one every 7 days. Opponents of 2nd Amendment Rights start with “reasonable” restrictions and up the ante every time a Democrat is in power.
They are chopping their lips now.
