The AMU camp is done, I’m home but not caught up.

Our return was interesting… Brian’s luggage with his competition pistols in it was not on the baggage claim carousel. We filed a lost luggage claim and expected it to be on the next flight from Atlanta. Instead, at 0500 this morning the Las Vegas PD called. They had found it in a ladies restroom in a distant part of the airport. It had been stolen. Fortunately, all the guns were there. I guess they aren’t easily pawned and the thief walked away from the whole thing after first clipping the locks.  Needless to say a bag full of guns and ammo found at an airport, causes a bit of a stir (-:    I drove down right away and got them before they went into impound.  Who needs sleep?

So tomorrow, bright and early, I’ll return to my normal blogging.

In the meantime, enjoy the funny shirts and other goodies from Despair.com

Clipping which locks? Weapons and ammo must be registered with your airline at check-in and locked in an approved container. The luggage must have its own TSA approved locks. TSA thieves usually blame the airline baggage handlers but the airlines have an answer here: “We can open the weapons case only when the owner’s present. Our employees can be observed carrying weapons or containers in our areas at all times.” That’s probably why the TSA employee dumped your stuff. Too
    hot to handle!

The locks were not found. They were cut I guess. The TSA locks are small , pliers would cut them. Or maybe the thief had a TSA key. The thief had the bag in the airport from 9PM to 2AM.

Do they still make you do the orange tape with “Fireams” so that any potential thief can quickly identify which package to take?

  4. Ken Says:

nope. Nothing identifying about the bag other than it was locked.
The police suggest making your bag very individual. My other is blaze orange with NELSON written on it in big letters. That kind of bag doesn’t get taken. But… not sure if this was at the carousel or in the system. They can’t find video of it being taken at the carousel.
