Just a quick post this morning, as I’m about to meet with my company’s Japanese distributor all day.
I continue to feel sharp and alert on this diet. Also, not much weight change in the last week, but obvious, visible body fat changes (and the measurements are in the high 16 now, down from mid 18%).
I’ve been sleeping soundly on this diet. I suspect that the energy I have is used on activities, exercise, getting things done, and at the end of the day, I’m sleepy tired. The good kind. I’ve always been the guy who lays down and falls asleep in a minute or two, but lately it’s been in 30 seconds.
Breakfast:
Turkey (deli), egg beaters, spinach leaf, sauerkraut, lentils, salsa
This tasted great, but I wasn’t particularly hungry this morning. So I ate about 1/2 of it.
Thai Food?
I suspect we will eat Thai food for lunch today. The author of the 4 Hour Body claims Thai is great on this diet, but I’m not sure what he is eating. What I usually get at Thai places has rice, noodles, or coconut milk in it – all things verboten on the diet.
Thai advice welcome!

Thanks for all the info you’ve posted about your adventures on the 4 Hour Body program.
I started my “personal transformation adventure” (doesn’t THAT sound like 21st century corporate NewSpeak?
) January 1 and have been tracking my meals and results, etc. at http://newjohn.wordpress.com.
I’d appreciate any comments and advice you might have.
So far, I am doing all right — down 8.5 pounds, 1% bodyfat, and -1.75 total inches in just a week.
I need to find a way to vary my food list a bit more (your posts are helping with that, thanks!) but all in all, I am finding it fairly easy to stick to this program.
My big issue, which seems to be fading a bit, is i still have the cravings for sweets. Unlike a strict Atkins diet where I would lose my cravings after about 2-3 days, on the 4HB program, they still exist. Sugar free jello helps some but still…what a pain. =/
One bit of unsolicited advice (take it for what it’s worth
) I will offer you is you might consider not weighing yourself every day.
One of the useful things I learned from Weight Watchers was to weigh myself once a week at the same time. For me, it’s Saturday morning before my binge day begins.
This helps me focus on doing the right thing, how I feel, how I look, how my clothes fit, etc. during the week, rather than trying to fit a predetermined number. YMMV.
Just a thought.
Cheers,
John O.

My girlfriend(who’s also doing the 4hb) and I went to a thai place last week. I was skeptical going in but after looking through the menu thoroughly, I was able to find several items very suitable for the diet. They were mostly stir fry dishes with varying combinations of vegetables. One dish in particular that looked very appropriate was black beans, watercress, with garlic and chili, but I wasn’t exactly craving watercress so I went with the chinese broccoli, while the gf ordered the mixed vegetables. Both were very satisfying in flavor as well as quantity as we ended up taking home almost half of the food.

John – On cravings, I just sat in a room filled with pastries, and not a twinge. That surprises me, in a nice way!
On weighing every day…. I do it less to see me drop, than to verify it isn’t going up. If I go up, then I reflect on what I did the day before. That is what caused me to drop all artificial sweeteners, for instance.
Thanks for writing, and I’ll put a link to your blog in my next post.

My advice on Thai food is to go to importfood.com and click on the recipes link. You can then familiarize yourself with most of the popular Thai dishes.
I’m still working my way through the list.

Seiji… Turns out… we went to Outback, no problems there (-:
But Thai is one my favorite foods, so your recommends mean I’ll give it a try. I was worried I’d never be there except on binge day )-:

Benja’s has some all-meat appetizers which are pretty good and I bet you could get some “compliant” sushi or sashimi. I would think that diet would go fantastically with Samurai 21 as well.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I went to Thai for dinner and found plenty of VERY tasty options that fit the diet well.
