But they are just symptoms. There is but one reason… in 1913 our Constitution was amended to include a fatal seed that would sow corruption and waste across our land. The seed took root and now has blossomed into a mighty oak of corruption with rotten roots.
We could have had growth and prosperity without the corruption and debt, had we just been able to keep our hands out of each others pockets. There was no need for it to come to this.

If you’re about to write an alternative economic history from 1913 without a national income tax, let be the first to read it. “We could have had growth and prosperity without the corruption and debt” sounds good, but from the beginning we had a lot of corruption. What we would have had over ninety years is a matter of pure speculation even greater than the degree of uncertainty in climate for ninety years.

exactly why we didn’t need to put gas on the fire. They were corrupt with the money they had – from tariffs and other smaller sources. Giving them access to all our wallets was stupid and has proved deadly.
You didn’t mind speculating in your earlier comments “2 to 25″.
