Actual simulation of how states are addicted to Federal 16th amendment money. That amendment should be taken out, for all our goods. It leads only to totalitarianism.
The 10th Amendment to the US Constitution says:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
The way the Feds got around this is they got the 16th Amendment passed, giving them unfettered rights into our wallets, and they take money and give it to the states with strings attached.
For instance, the No Child Left Behind Act, is an odious movement towards centralized control of what our children learn. It doesn’t violate the 10th Amendment because any state can opt out of it if they don’t want an Federal money for their education bureaucracies.
A few state legislatures now have bills pending affirming sovereignty via the 10th Amendment.
But I’m not actually aware of what they are griping about. I’m not aware of a law that violates the 10th Amendment. They got the states hooked on their 16th amendment money and now the 10th amendment is largely bypassed through addiction.
Of course, I’m glad it is there. I just wish they would follow it. For instance, I don’t see how the Clinton ban on assault weapons survived a 10th amendment test. I suspect that the courts view it and the 2nd amendment as an inconvenience to be ignored as often as possible.
